Left Hand guitar players the world over have always had a problem with availability of left handed guitars and left handed basses.
Many left handed children learning to play guitar end up going against what is right for them, and learn to play right handed out of frustration or inappropriate pressure from ignorant and lazy music teachers.
Many experienced left handed guitarists who want a left-handed guitar that is not a boring Stratocaster or Les Paul, or SG have simply become apathetic and given up looking for that which is abundant for right handed players.
Not only is there a limited range of guitars, but the resources for learning are also pretty limited.
It is not hard to understand. Of the world's population, left handed people are a minority compared to right handed people. Within this minority there is a further minority of left handed people who play guitar left handed. Despite the small percentage of left handed guitarists, there have been a number of iconic left handed players who have made a huge impact on the music scene. These include , , , , , and .
Many of the major guitar manufacturers do not offer left hand versions of some of their popular guitars. To be fair, USA guitar manufacturers, have been facing harder and harder times, year after year.

An increasingly DRUGGED population of kids who can't learn and whose parents have been brainwashed into believing the drugs their children "need" will actually help them but are actually more of the problem than the solution means less creativity and less children getting involved in music. Generation Y, the 20-somethings bounce off walls instead of doing work, thanks to the psychotropic drugs they have been on since they were young for hoax medical conditions like "ADHD." This generation wants everything for nothing, and feel their existence is deserved and not earned. They are the spoilt brats of Generation X. These social conditions also contribute to the young people's inability to learn, and to get involved in art and music. It is not their fault. It is the fault of dizzy-headed Generation Y parents who can't say "no" and stand by why the concepts of "right" and "wrong" get torn down by criminals and vested interests under the protection of "freedom of speech and "Human Rights."
