Gaskell AllRounder (lefty Telecaster) 2011 -2012

I released the Gaskell ALL ROUNDER  for a different reason than I ordinarily would. Left handed Telecasters are not that difficult to find. Every guitar brand in the world makes a Telecaster style guitar. Some even left handed. Even Fender has always made a few lefty Telecasters. However, where availability fails miserably for left handed players is in colours and options.

I wanted to do different things with the Tele slab body and open up new possibilities to left handed players such as fit humbucker pickups, fit a Kahler or Floyd Rose tremolo, fit a Bigsby, do a 3x3 headstock, rearrange controls, etc. Pretty much all the things you can do to other slab body guitars to make them a bit different or a bit more interesting.

To my surprise after I released this model in 2011, the ALL-ROUNDER proved to be of more interest to lefty players as an original Telecaster! I experimented a little (as you can see in the photos) but it wasn't enough. However I did make mine with Stratocaster body contours which was something different.

Telecasters will never go out of fashion. The design is truly an "all-round" guitar. It's the same for lefties as it is for everyone else. But in reality, people in the main who want Telecasters just want whatever is available. So if Fender make only two boring colours for lefties then experience has taught me that that's what most lefties are happy with. It's taken me 15 years to learn that. For that reason there is no reason for me to produce a lefty Tele-style guitar.
