Our USA office has a few "scratch and dent" (B-stock) guitars - all brand new and unplayed - and ALL $200 off their regular price! All guitars are 100% except for a minor blemish of some sort, and generally unnoticeable. No more noticeable than what happens when your belt buckle has scraped the back of the guitar a couple of times, or after you've banged it into the mike stand a few times, etc. Some of these guitars have our original pre-2009 Korean import, covered pickups, before we switched to Wilkinson open pickups. NOVEMBER, 2009. Very important announcement to European customers.
As you know, Gaskell Guitars has a solid and unwavering purpose to provide left handed guitars to left handed guitarists at very affordable prices and of quality that surpasses expectancies of other guitars in the same price range. We have no interest in being like other guitar brands that punish left handed guitarists for being left handed by charging ridiculous prices for their lefty versions. You see this when you go into a music store and see how the left handed version of a guitar is often priced anywhere from 10-20% higher than the right handed version. We are totally against that practice! With this in mind, the following announcement is for European and UK customers: Due to the strength of the Australian dollar against the Euro and high tax rates of European countries (over 20%) it has become impossible for us to continue to offer our products through renowned guitar store Lefty Guitars in Belgium, and still maintain an acceptable price. It is now actually cheaper for people in Europe and the UK to purchase from Australia direct than to buy from a European store! The shipping costs from Australia to Europe work out to be less than the local tax you would pay on a locally purchased product! As a result of these changed circumstances, from November 2009, we will not be resupplying Lefty Guitars with our products. Lefty Guitars still has some stock of Gaskell guitars and these are fully available to European customers until sold out. We recommend future purchases by European customers be made through Australian left handed guitar specialist store PKS MUSIC. This way you will save money and be dealing with a dealer that has been successfully carrying Gaskell for over 3 years. We thank the staff at Lefty Guitars for sticking it out with us during these tough economic times of 2009. We have done wonderful things in that time but we are both the unwilling victims of events that have changed the whole financial structure of international trade since September 2008. As a lefty guitarist living in Europe or UK this is actually good news for you! For us, we are able to maintain our vision of offering left handed guitars at affordable prices world wide.

It has been truly an "action packed" year for Gaskell Guitars and there has been a lot of news during this first half of the year! So much, that it has filled this page up! We have archived the first half of this years news as a PDF and if you are interested in "old news" you can download that at the bottom of this page an read it. OCTOBER, 2009. PHOTOSHOOT THANK YOU'S.
Our thanks go out to English "Playboy" model Maria Eriksson, who has been in Sydney this month. Maria is in the latest issue of the USA Playboy magazine and has been published in many, many print media internationally. We were lucky and priveledged to have Maria for a photoshoot too, and the shoot was fantastic! Maria, we hope you will return to the UK with fond memories of your time here in "Oz." We hope our fellow lefty guitarists will like the new shots, even including those small percentage of people who occassonally criticize us for our "cheesy marketing." Cheesy? So what! Enjoy! SEPTEMBER, 2009. BUSY!
Myself, Alan, and Charles, here in Sydney are flat out getting guitars ready. Please do not get mad if we are a little slow on email responses at this time. We get a LOT of emails every day and if you ever thought that there might be a "shortage" of left handed gutarists in the world you would be very wrong! SEPTEMBER, 2009. GUITARS ARRIVED.
Finally, our Australian stock has arrived in Sydney. It has literally just come in to port! It will take about 2 weeks before everything goes through, and we will get to work on the remainder of the process here in the workshop. We have new stock of DiMarzio pickups for all the Classic PRO back orders and these have come direct from DiMarzio USA. For those of you with guitars on back order, please be patient a little longer. We are working on all back orders now, ie. finishing them off, and setting them up in our workshop here in Sydney and we will be in contact with you very soon.
AUGUST, 2009. SAGE MARK II.
A new model in the pipelines is the Sage "Mark II." We have decided to do the Sage with a regular headstock. So it will have the Sage body, and the same tremolo system, but instead of being headless it will have the headstock style of the Equalizer. Any thoughts or ideas from people are appreciated. AUGUST 14, 2009 - LES PAUL.
All of us here at Gaskell Guitars in Australia and USA are saddened to hear about the death of Mr. Les Paul. Possibly none of us (or you!) would be here today doing what we do with guitars and music were it not for Les Paul and his advances in musical istruments and technology which changed this world. Les Paul was a true HERO of our times. It is truly a sad day for all guitarists in the world, left or right handed. Our condolences go out to Mr Paul's family and loved ones.
AUGUST, 2009. USA STOCK IS IN.
USA lefty guitarists, our USA office now has guitars! If you were waiting then please contact Peter at our US office now. (Australian stock is still 2-3 weeks away. Australia used to be penal colony, remember! Some things haven't changed here!)
AUGUST, 2009. 4 x NEW MODELS!
Here is the quick info on them. We will get these up in on the website in due course, as well as the other new models that have not had their product pages finished yet. 1. A previous model is being reissued with some modifications and a new name. Once was the "MSeries" is now called the "Brumby" (named after the Australian wild horse - our equivalent of the American mustang.) The Brumby will be available this time with the Floyd Rose option only, a different headstock from the Kelly Explorer it resembles (to avoid copyright issues with Jackson headstock patents) and Wilkinson pickups. This guitar will not be a stock item but can be pre-ordered for any one of the three production runs we do per year. Next production run starts October for Christmas 2009 delivery.
2. Our second new model is a reissue of the "Equalizer", inspired by the ESP AX which we first presented in 2008 for a short time.
3. Our third new model is a Rickenbacker 4004 style bass, made of ash, and with a set-in neck. Very high quality bass. Called the "Viking." It does not have a pick guard.
4. Our fourth new model is the "Jackaroo Series II" which has Tun-O-Matic and thru-body system, twin Wilkinson humbuckers, and our own "bottle opener" style headstock ("pass us another Fosters, mate!") We will be offering this guitar in all colours of our colour chart, the objective being to overcome any frustrations lefty guitarists may have about limited colour choices in other brands for similar types of guitars. The Jackaroo II will not be a stock item but will be available by pre-order for any of the three runs we do in a year.

The website will look a little weird if you don't select this. Also, we will have all the new products up very soon. Working on this now.
